New and Repair Fabrications
Current standards for certified companies performing fabrications is governed by CSA W47.1 which is divided into three divisions, Division 1,2 or 3. Depending on which division is required, certain aspects will be met (welding engineer, on-staff, retained and/ or not required, certified welders meeting necessary classifications, approved welding procedures and consumables). These certified companies will contract inspection companies certified to W178.1 which are required to have inspector supervisor personnel, certified visual welding inspectors and certified NDE personnel. Technicians should then be certified to CSA W178.2 or CGSB accreditations for visual and non-destructive testing requirements. Those companies will then be able to provide qualified personnel with accreditations that are needed to meet the end user’s requirements (CWB endorsement W59.1, B31.3 etc.) and/or (CGSB accreditation MT, PT, UT, etc.)
